Scouts

The Scout Troop is the eldest section in the group, for children of 10½ to 14.

We try to give our members opportunities that they might otherwise not get a chance to do.

These include:

  • climbing
  • abseiling
  • building fires
  • backwoods cooking
  • hiking

There are also opportunities to join other scouts in the district in a variety of fun and competitive events, including international ventures.

In the district of Brighton and Hove, there is a long-standing link with a district in Holland, where exchange visits are arranged every few years under the name “Dutch Dolphin Quest” (or DDQ for short). In previous years, members of our troop were involved in these exchanges at home and abroad, thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Scout leaders

All of our leaders are trained volunteers working to make Scouts the best it can be, but we don’t just need swashbuckling adventurers to lead our expeditions. We also need tidy-uppers and tea-makers and great listeners from all walks of life – for as much or as little time as they can spare.
